Arts Lab

Arts Well works in partnership with FEAST and Headstart Kernow to develop creative wellbeing projects for young people in Cornwall aged 10 - 16.

Our creative wellbeing programme, Arts Lab is delivered in partnership with Creative Kernow and HeadStart Kernow, addressing the mental and emotional health needs of young people.

Arts Lab matches young people’s groups with local professional artists. With the young people’s interests as a starting point, projects are delivered that prioritise:

– Using the Five Ways to Wellbeing as tools to improve mental health and resilience

– An opportunity for co-designing between the artist and young people

– Having some connection or visibility in the young people’s local community

– Addressing needs of the young people in the group

We are grateful to Public Health Cornwall for their funding and support from 2022 to 2025.

During this time Arts Lab:

– engaged with 3,815 young people

– delivered 132 projects in 101 settings, including primary and secondary schools, SEND schools, alternative educational provision, youth and community organisations, CAMHS groups, hospital school and a social prescribing setting

– delivered 822 workshops

In 2025 the Resettlement Service commissioned Arts Lab to deliver projects supporting young refugees and their peers to connect through creativity.
